SolarEclipseEarth has launched a new line of eclipse and moon themed T-shirts and apparel ahead of the historic moon occasion this week. The moon will provide a rare triple event, which will combine a blue moon, a super moon, and a total lunar eclipse in one.

More information can be found at: https://solar-eclipse.earth

On Wednesday, in many locations around the world, people will get to see not only the blue moon but a super moon, along with a spectacular total lunar eclipse. This triple lineup of lunar events hasn’t been seen together since 1982, making it a historic occasion and well worth remembering for all the family.

Those living in the western half of the US will get the best view when it occurs, while those on the East Coast will struggle to see anything as the moon will be setting just as the eclipse begins.

However, those who do get to witness it will be able to cherish the memories for years to come. Each of the three events is a rarity in itself, as a blue moon is a second full moon in a single month. A super moon is where the moon appears bigger and brighter, while a total eclipse, with its infamous blood colored hue, is where the moon completely bathes in the earth’s shadow.

A wide range of products is available on the SolarEclipseEarth website to help commemorate the occasion. There are different categories for visitors to browse through, including women’s apparel, men’s items, kids’ clothes, T-shirts, tote bags, pillows, coffee mugs, iPhone cases, maps, and more.

Customers can click on each category to find out more, with a wide range of high quality products on offer. Each item helps customers to remember the special occasion.

The company says: “The moon and the sun have represented many metaphors and often love that is strong, fearless and beautifully alive. They are the concentric center of each one of us, connected by their love story that in turn, connects us together.”

Why do zebras have stripes? Perhaps to dazzle away flies

Feb 21, 2019

LONDON — Zebra stripes are dazzling — particularly to flies. That's the conclusion of scientists from the University of Bristol and the University of California at Davis who dressed horses in black-and-white striped coats to help determine why zebras have stripes. The researchers found that fewer horseflies landed on the cloaked horses than on the ones without striped coats, suggesting that zebra stripes may offer protection from blood-sucking insects that can spread disease. "This reduced ability to land on the zebra's coat may be due to stripes disrupting the visual system of the horse flies during their final moments of...

Drone sighting halts flights at Ireland's Dublin Airport

Feb 21, 2019

LONDON — Flights to and from Dublin Airport in Ireland were briefly halted Thursday after a drone was spotted over the airfield. The airport said the Irish Aviation Authority suspended flights for 30 minutes after a confirmed sighting by a pilot at around 1130GMT. "As there were no further drone sighting within the 30-minute suspension period, Dublin Airport resumed flight operations shortly after noon," the airport said in a statement. It said three incoming flights were diverted to other airports during the closure, and some knock-on delays to departures were expected for the rest of the day. The airport said...

As US pushes to ban Huawei, UK considers softer approach

Feb 21, 2019

LONDON — Britain can handle the security risks involved with using mobile networks made by China's Huawei, the cybersecurity chief said Wednesday, adding to a growing debate among countries on whether the company should be banned, as the U.S. wants. Ciaran Martin, the CEO of the U.K. National Cyber Security Centre, said it was important to have "sustainable diversity" in the supply of telecommunications equipment. He added that his agency could handle the challenges involved in monitoring suppliers who may not be considered trustworthy — a hint at Huawei. Huawei, the world's biggest maker of switching gear for phone and...

Microsoft detects hacking targeting Europe democracy groups

Feb 21, 2019

LONDON — A hacking group has targeted European democratic institutions including think tanks and non-profit groups ahead of highly anticipated EU parliamentary elections in May, Microsoft said. The company said Tuesday that a group called Strontium targeted email accounts for more than 100 people in six European countries working for the German Council on Foreign Relations, the Aspen Institutes in Europe and the German Marshall Fund. Microsoft said in a blog post that it is continuing to investigate but is confident many of the attacks originated from Strontium, a group that others call Fancy Bear or APT28. U.S. authorities have...

UK expands no-fly zone for drones around airports

Feb 21, 2019

LONDON — The no-fly zone for drones around British airports is being extended to 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in an attempt to avert disruptions like the December groundings of flights at Gatwick Airport, officials said Wednesday. The Department for Transport said the zone will widen on March 13 from the current 1 kilometer (0.6 miles). Officials are also working on new legislation to give police more powers to stop and search people suspected of using drones maliciously. Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said people who fly drones near airports "are not only acting irresponsibly, but criminally, and could face imprisonment." More...
