Legal Bisnow, a legal media company that publishes monthly email newsletters across nearly two-dozen top cities in the United States, recently approached legal expert Jeff Ifrah to answer one of the business’s most frequently asked questions. The answers to this question were as diverse as they were interesting: Keith Wetmore worked in a funeral parlor in Indiana, owned by his parents, in his opinion an “honorable profession”. Benson Legg worked on the maintenance crew at the docks where he would earn his money jackhammering asphalt, tarring roofs, mixing cement, and cleaning up. And Phil Hampton worked as an assistant in the Meteorology Department at the University of Maryland, hoping to unlock the secrets of radioactivity.

Amongst the attorneys Bisnow approached with this question is Jeff Ifrah, founding member of Ifrah Law Firm, a Washington DC-based law firm specializing in the defense of government investigations and litigation. Ifrah revealed to Bisnow that he always wanted to be a teacher. So after graduating from college, he took a job as a seventh grade teacher at a middle school in Toronto. It does not come as a surprise that it turned out to be a challenging task, but he nevertheless loved every minute. "The paycheck?" Ifrah says, "not so much." Recently, a former student sent him a book he published. Maybe it took 20 years to appreciate this, he tells us, but he also found teaching to be rewarding.
