Psych360 Attends 2019 Life Span Network Annual Conference

Oct 3, 2019

October 03, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - Psych360, a mental health services firm based in Medina, Ohio, has announced that they have attended the LifeSpan Network annual conference that was held on September 24 to 27, 2019 at Ocean City, Maryland. At the event, attendees learned about trends regarding psychiatric services in senior service centers and were able to network with other centers, providers, and researchers.

Some of the topics discussed at the 2019 conference were the new rules for nursing homes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that put residents first; J.D. Power’s alliance with LifeSpan in offering discounted Senior Living Community certifications; services for people with behavioral health needs in skilled nursing facilities; courses from the Executive Leadership Institute; and the new Medicare Patient Driven Payment Model workshop.

Psych360 is a provider of premium on-site psychiatric services for senior living centers and similar facilities like nursing homes. They have a clinical team that is focused on enhancing the quality of life of every person in the facility. They can work with staff to decrease psychiatric problems and the resulting stress in a facility. The members of the clinical team have relevant experience in managing medications and communicating with all policyholders, while keeping the facility compliant with the CMS.

The services provided by Psych360 offer various benefits for long term care facilities. These include enhancement of resident quality of life; avoidance of costly citations; reduction of hospitalization; and reduction of staff stress. The important features of the services provided include 100 percent dedication to long term care; on-call 24/7; full CMS integration; on-site regular visits; full psychotropic management; and educational resources. This is why it was important for Pysch360 to attend the LifeSpan Annual Conference, which is to ensure that the knowledge of their clinical team is up-to-date, including their services.

For skilled nursing facilities, Psych360 can offer various benefits. These include the improvement of residents’ quality of life; lower resident hospital stays; resolution of crisis situations as they occur; creation of detailed archival data reports; and reduction of staff stress problems through better support.

For assisted living facilities, Psych360 can also provide a number of benefits. These include strengthening of family confidence / facility relations; assurance of consistent dialogue between staff, doctors, and pharmacists; reduction of hospitalizations; enhancement of quality of life with a patient-centered approach; responsiveness to a facility’s needs with consistent psychiatric visits and in crisis situations; and enhancement of competitiveness of facility through the provision of on-site psychiatric services.

Psych360’s approach to psychiatric treatment is based on a systematic algorithm with a team approach. Board-certified psychiatric / mental health nurse practitioner specialists are assigned to a client and these specialists maintain patient and staff relationship consistency including familiarity with the provider’s regular in-person visitations. Psych360 also spends a substantial amount of time reviewing the medical records and studying previously attempted GDRs (gradual dose reductions) to determine the proper mental health care plans.

Psych360 also provides routine educational in-services for staff. The result is the development of new workflow continuity and teaching of techniques for staff with regards to the implementation of non-pharmacological interventions. The education provided also offers insights into the mental health regulations and ongoing changes in best practices and guidelines. They also cover medication recommendations from the CMS and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Psych360 also ensures that the electronic medical records (EMR) notes are customized based on federal and state regulations. The turnaround for the EMR notes is one to two days for accurate and up-to-date records. They also ensure that appropriate documentation is provided with regular audits on their charting.

Psych360 also helps with the integration of primary care and mental health care, which is known as the Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+). This is a value-based-care initiative of the CMS.

Meanwhile, Psych360 also offers training regarding the Positive Approach to Care (PAC) that was developed by Teepa Snow. This training is provided by Psych360’s Renee Bowles, who was able to complete a PAC certification course.
